Beswick

Beswick is an area of Manchester – it neighbours Manchesterâ€s district of Bradford to the east. The two areas are collectively referred to as “Bradford-with-Beswick”. Both the Ashton Canal and the River Medlock run through Beswick.

As with many districts in East Manchester – Beswick is historically an economically deprived area – although since the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the area has improved. The area is only a 10 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station. It is home to the largest Asda in the country. Beswick is also home to the Etihad Stadium – which Manchester City Football Club rent from the Manchester City Council.

Plans for regeneration and investment in the area include Manchester Cityâ€s Sports Village complete with bars and a hotel, and a new Aquatics centre which is due to have a Metro (tram) line running through within the coming years. Beswick is also home to the Manchester Velodrome and BMX Centre.
